First edition (print number not stated) hardcover copy of The Training of the Human Plant by Luther Burbank (Century Company, 1907). A rare and unique take on a controversial opinion, where through years of plant study, Burbank put forth his ideas of racial purity, his ideal hereditary practices, for a lack of a better word, eugenics. A very well preserved antique book. Some mild rubbing/scuffing to boards, chipping to paper on spine where title is printed, and shelf wear around the edges. Corners bumped and a bit frayed. Binding is faintly visible in a few gutters, though binding remains fairly firm on the whole and spine is straight. Some tearing/blemishes to front endpaper where a previous owner’s handwritten name and/or sticker was removed. Some erased sparse underlining in pencil to a handful of pages. Otherwise all pages are clean and unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition.
